2021 pt.1

This year marks the tenth year that I have been given the honor of photographing weddings. I couldn’t do the math if I tried - but at this point it has to be well over 250 weddings that I’ve documented. While weddings haven’t changed too drastically over those ten years - every year feels really different. I think this mostly comes down to the fact that throughout these ten years I have changed, grown, and uncovered more of who I am and what brings me joy. While this year started with the hope that things would be different - and ended with a reminder that we are not in control - looking through these images reminds me of how much good and true and beautiful I was surrounded by.

Every year I feel that the desires of my clients and the art that I feel capable of producing have become closer aligned. Partially this is due to the fact that I think I am less afraid at sharing what feels true to me - instead of sharing what I think people are used to seeing. I hope to move forward with this mindset even stronger this year. The photos that I think feel the strongest and mean the most to the people they are for - are never the ones that are expected or look like everyone else’s wedding photos.

I am looking forward to more of this in 2022 - and am so excited for the wedding clients who have already invited me to be a part of their day. I believe strongly that your wedding photos age and improve over time. As the memories get fuzzier and start to blend - my hope is that your photos feel anything but cookie cutter. I hope that when you look back at them - you feel authentically seen are and able to transport yourself back to that moment in time. THANK YOU to everyone who helped me continue in this career. I feel immeasurably lucky to be doing this as a career.
